Disc Golf Displays

Power
The best players in the UK are able to throw in the region 140-150m. These throws are very impressive especially when witnessed by the naked eye. There are a handful of disc golfers in the World who have thrown over 200 metres! The World record distance throw for a golf disc is 250 metres.

Accuracy
Observing players putting into disc golf baskets over considerable distances is impressive. The sound of discs crashing into the basket is also quite a head turner. The baskets themselves are very unusual looking and are often a focus of interest just on their own.

Cilla Black Loves Disc Golf...
Disc golf putting displays have featured on a number of television game shows. The first one Discology assisted on was Cilla Black's 'Moment of Truth' on ITV in 1999/2000.

On this occasion Cilla challenged a member of the public to make 30 putts in 60 seconds from about 10 metres away. There were some mega prizes to be won if she was successful.

The contestant had one week to practice and boy did she practice! In her back garden, she threw golf discs into a basket from 10 metres for 8 hours a day for a week. Over this period, she lost a stone in weight and the muscles in her throwing arm became remarkably defined! She said she was even throwing discs in her dreams! To cap the story, she returned from her week of training and completed the challenge in front of the studio audience.
